Luno Life Air Mattress Review - The Ultimate Air Mattress for Van Life & Truck Bed Camping

In an effort to find a comfortable sleeping arrangement for my new camping setup in my truck bed, I stumbled across the Luno Life Air Mattresses. These are designed to have a custom fit for truck beds, SUVs, and vans so that you can maximize your sleeping space so you can get a comfortable nights sleep just about anywhere you go. Since these are made to fit a wide variety of vehicles, they are perfect for overlanders, van lifers, or anyone looking for a simple and easy way to have a comfortable spot to rest while on the road.

After having mine and testing it for all of my camping trips for the past year, here is my honest opinion and thoughts on the Luno Truck Bed Air Mattress.

Features & Specs

Before we get into my opinions, let’s talk about the key features that these Luno air mattresses have to offer.

Materials & Quality

I was a little hesitant when getting the Luno air mattress as I wasn’t sure how well it would hold up to the elements especially being in Arkansas where the weather can change without warning. After a year though, I can safely say that it has held up to everything I have thrown at it.

The mattress is constructed from TitanTUFF™ which is a waterproof 300D nylon (a blend of polyester and nylon) which is a super durable material in itself. Having it in the bed of my truck on camping trips, I have stepped on it with boots and thrown all sorts of camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking gear on it and haven’t noticed any wear or tear. The mattress is rated for 300 pounds per side which is pretty good for an air mattress.

The craftsmanship behind also helps with its durability as the stitching and seams do not show any signs of distress after multiple camping trips.

Sizing & Vehicle Fits

  • Packed Size: 10 inch x 22 inch Bag

  • Inflated Height: 4 inches

Specifically the truck bed air mattresses come in two different sizes to fit mid-size and full size truck models. Having a Tacoma with a short bed, I opted for the 5ft bed model and it fits inside the bed even with the tailgate up. If you have a setup where you can sleep with the tailgate down, it also comes with two tailgate buddies to extend the length so you have more leg room. If you don’t have a truck, Luno also offers different models for both Vans and SUVs.

What Comes with it?

Alongside the mattress, the 5ft Bed model comes with the following accessories:

  • 2 Tailgate Buddies (extenders)

  • Cordless Rechargeable Air Pump

  • Carrying Bag

  • Repair Patch

My Opinons of the Luno Air Mattress

Ease of Use

My favorite part about the Luno Air Mattress is how easy it is to set up. Simply take it out of the provided carrying case, unroll it, and use the provided cordless air pump to air up the mattress.

It only takes a couple of minutes to fully inflate and then you’re ready to go.

Modularity

Unlike traditional air mattresses, the Luno air mattress allows you to either inflate both sides or one side depending on what you need space for. Personally, I usually inflate one side and use the other side of my bed for storing my gear.

The mattress also comes with two tailgate buddies that allow you to extend the length of the mattress to the end of the tailgate when it’s down giving yourself more leg room.

Comfort

Being 4-inches thick, the mattress provided enough space to sleep comfortably no matter what surface you’re on while still being pretty low profile.

The Luno mattress has honestly been a game changer allowing me to get a comfortable nights sleep and sure beats any sleeping pad, extra blankets, and every other surface I’m slept on.

Portability

As I mentioned, the mattress comes with a carrying bag and makes transporting it a whole lot easier and it’s about the size of a thin sleeping bag while packed down.

I have been able to throw it in my camping totes, back of my truck, in my backseat, and just about anywhere else I have space which is nice especially if you’re truck camping and have a lot of other gear you have to find a place for.
